Gem Likes Design is for people who want a home that feels like them, not page 47 of the same interiors catalogue everyone else has.

We like colour. We like texture. We like pattern. We like old things next to new things, expensive things next to ridiculously good cheap finds, and the occasional slightly weird thing that has absolutely no practical purpose but makes you happy every time you walk past it. Basically, we like homes with a pulse.

So, what is Gem Likes Design?

Part interiors edit. Part shopping rabbit hole. Part “oh God, where did you get that?”

We spend an arguably unreasonable amount of time searching for brilliant things for the home, then pull together the ones we think are actually worth knowing about.

A sculptural lamp that completely changes a boring corner.
A cushion that gives your beige sofa a much-needed personality transplant. Beautiful storage that hides the evidence of actual life. The perfect vase. The excellent chair. The thing you didn't know you needed until approximately 14 seconds ago.

Some are affordable. Some are a little more maybe-next-payday. All of them have something about them.

We're not here to tell you how your home should look.

There are enough rules in life already.

Good design isn't about having the right coffee table or knowing whether your interior is technically ‘mid-century eclectic contemporary coastal’. Exhausting. It's about learning what you like.

Mix the patterns. Add the colour. Move the furniture around. Hang the art somewhere unexpected. Buy the weird lamp.

If you love it, we'll probably tell you to find a place for it.

Because we'd take a home that's interesting, personal and occasionally a little bit bonkers over one that's perfectly styled but says absolutely nothing about the person who lives there.

Gem Likes Design was created by Gem - a designer at heart, professional internet rabbit-hole explorer and firm believer that the best homes are the ones people remember.

After 20 years working around brands and design, I've developed a fairly serious habit of spotting things I like and imagining exactly where I'd put them. Gem Likes Design is where I put all those finds.
